Why subscribe?

The Housing Policy Tracker is a monthly round up of key housing, land, and urban policy developments in Egypt. Bulletins are based on our team’s expert methodology citing official primary sources as far as possible to summarise the complex and ever evolving decision making landscape for urban experts, scholars, and journalists with a focus on:

  • Tenure and legalization policies and legislative development with issues such as rent, informal housing, mortgage, registration, and expropriation.

  • Progress of large-scale urban redevelopment projects in Cairo, the North Coast and elsewhere.

  • Major project and policy developments in the real estate sector and new cities, especially the involvement of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) such as NUCA.

Readers also gain access to additional resources such as:

  • Relevant interlinks to our News Archive that contains almost 16,000 tagged articles from 2012 onwards.

  • Interlinks to our online Legal Archive with recent legislation.

  • Updates on relevant official statistics and market reports.

Since 2015, the Built Environment Observatory (BEO), has provided open-access housing strategies, spatial analysis, data-driven advocacy, and shaped policy recommendations for communities in Egypt at a critical time of social, political, and climatic transformation.
